Pixel 7 Obsidian 128 GB
My ever first Pixel

I upgraded to the Google Pixel 7 from the Galaxy A31 so this was a big jump for me, not only because of the significant difference in quality, but also this is the first time I have moved away from a Samsung phone. There has been quite a bit for me to adapt to over the past few weeks, so here is a summary of my experiences so far.
The camera is impressive with a range of useful functions I have simply gone without. Often, I wouldn’t bother trying to take a photo at night but the Pixel 7 handles it easily and automatically. All I have to do is hold it still for three seconds and the Pixel does the rest. There are several other helpful functions such as Top Shot where the camera will take a burst of photos which allows you to select the best moment perhaps a half-second outside of the time you took the photo. Portrait mode takes the best portraits unsurprisingly. Your face will be clear, crisp and you can even change the lighting angle to get the look just right. Perhaps the most notable camera feature is the magic eraser which can intuit what you want removed from the photo, or you can do it manually. It does a fair job of editing the image but if you zoom in, you can see the blur a little.
The Pixel is almost the same size as my old A31, but the power and volume buttons are swapped around so I had to get used to that. Another thing to get used to is the protruding camera panel on the back. A good phone case will minimise this protrusion which you might want to do since it is an easy place for dust and other particles to gather.
While this may be a minor issue for some, this was the biggest issue for me. I loved the universal back button on my Galaxies so I am still adjusting to swiping to go back. This can interfere with page scrolling because you might want to move the page across but accidentally go back. You just have to be careful with not scrolling from the edge of the page. I’m not sure if there is a ‘forward’ swipe or option, but having an easy way to undo a back swipe would be convenient.
Overall, I’m happy with the upgrade, despite some transitional issues. But with any change, it just takes time to get used to.
