HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One Printer
A solid but basic printer

The biggest appeal for me for this printer was the refillable ink. I would happily replace those cartridges for a more sustainable and less fiddly experience and for sure this printer has provided that.
Upon opening up the box, there's a printer, four bottles, two permanent cartridges and a power cable. No printer cable is the norm it seems these days.
I was a bit daunted by the numbers of things to put together, add in and remove to get the thing working but the instructions were clearly laid out, and easy to follow. I had hoped to have a mess free experience like other reviews suggested but I did end up with a bit of ink on my fingers, though nowhere else which was positive.
The printer display is a fairly basic display, reminiscent of a budget digital clock and far more simple than I'd expect for a premium printer in this day and age. It means that any errors or codes that come up will have you fumbling through a manual or app to work out. I would have preferred a more interactive display which is not uncommon in printers these days.
In terms of printing, the printer was fast, the colours were good (and I say good because there was nothing extraordinary here) and it prints double sided without any intervention, which I believe is a must have as well.
The copy function was effective and easy to activate on the printer once you work out what each button on the printer means.
Scanning has proved more challenging. I had to troubleshoot online as the app didn't help and lack of display made it impossible to scan. It just kept saying this feature wasn't available. Then I had to work out how to do a full reset on the printer and app to get a solution. It works now, and works well!
Overall, a solid if simple printer, nothing that blew me away but it does what it needs to well and nothing more.
