HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One Printer
A good home-office printer

I have owned HP printers before and never had any problems with them, so I was fairly confident this would be a good machine.
I was impressed by the size of the ink bottles that came with the printer (70ml). You can see a comparison beside a mouse in the attached photo. Mouse not included with the printer, of course. I was also impressed with the amount of paper the tray holds - nearly half a ream.
Connecting the printer to my network on the iPhone app was really easy but not quite so straightforward on my Mac. Possibly more of an OS issue than HP's. My Mac found the printer via Bonjour straight away but, at first, it wouldn't show up in the print selection list. Not sure if it was installing the HP app that fixed the problem, but it showed up next time I tried to print.
I had a bit of trouble setting up the printer, my fault, I didn't notice that the black ink bottle was hidden under some packaging, but it did mean that I got to experience HP's customer care, which was absolutely excellent. The (native English speaking) support agent walked me through the whole setup process and even called back two days later
to check that everything was ok.
Setting up the HP app on my Mac was a bit of a mission. Got there eventually but it took four attempts and about 1/2 an hour. If you're not using the scanning feature of the printer much, you can skip the app setup on your laptop/phone and just use your OS's print function.
The print quality is great. The printer makes the usual noises when you send it a document and then prints at a reasonably fast pace. All in all, it is a good solid machine. I was unable to subtract just half a star for the setup issues, but the excellent customer support made up for it anyway, so 5 stars.
Oh, and don't worry if it feels like you're going to break the lid when you open it to put in the ink. It's really stiff but will open without breaking.
