HP Smart Tank Plus 555 All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer
Solid but could do with…

I have been a loyal HP instant ink user for the last 5 years or so, over the course of 2 HP Envy printers. Although the instant ink scheme is genius I never felt I fully took advantage of it as I would have months where my printing was high followed by very low months.
I had considered the Epsom tank when it was first launched years ago, but I do prefer HP printers, so when I saw that HP had their own tank version I was very excited to try it out.
The good: It's a solid printer and the tank function is extremely well thought out (I didn't spill a drop when I filled out the tank). The prints are crisp and clean, even if not amazing high quality - it is an inkjet after all, and it's pretty fast to print.
The not so good: It's a really big printer, bigger than I had expected, which I'm assuming is to fit the tank reserves in. However this means the paper is rear fed where I have been very comfortable with bottom fed for the last 5 years. It's also fiddly to install the paper add too much and the printer extracts multiple sheets when it's printing - at one point it took 5 sheets. I'm also disappointed that it doesn't have an auto expanding printer tray, it feels weird having to manually open the tray up. The display screen also may not even bother being there, it's teeny tiny and gives absolutely minimal information.
Saying this, all my complaints/niggles with the printer are solely because I have been spoilt by the HP Envy range which has had years to fully mature. This is a pretty brand new range and once I adjust my expectations down I'm sure I will grow to love it. My wallet already does!
