It seemed like a great…

So, I'm an avid user of tech, hue bulbs, hive heating, alexa etc etc and robot vacuums have always peaked my interest given I have beige carpets and a black cat who likes to leave her fur everywhere! This campaign gave me the opportunity to try one when I otherwise might not! So, I got the Roomba i5, it arrived well packaged with everything needed to get going. After a while of messing about getting it to connect to the app, I set it off on a whole flat clean. It bumbled around for 30 or so mins before retuning to its charging station at which point I checked the collection bin and was satisfied it seemed to have picked up a decent amount of the offending fur (and other bits).
Then, I checked the app (which is surprisingly basic) and it showed me the map of where it'd had cleaned, but... None of the options to put in room breaks etc. Confused I resorted to the faqs on the irobot website, which led me nowhere. But after much googling it seems you have to wait/run it a few times before the mapping option appears. At this point you can set it off on a mapping run and name rooms/add room breaks etc.
On to its cleaning ability, having owned a couple of leading brand vacuums, my standards of what's acceptable or not are quite high, and I was quite disappointed to see that there was a not insignificant amount of fur left attached to the carpets (see attached photo), even after a couple of runs with it. The upshot is, it'll never replace my hand held vacuum, this particular model just doesn't have the cleaning ability which is a shame as I had high hopes!
Its also worth noting if you have any rugs that are anything other than thing, it'll not go over then, I have an Ikea rug that it simply goes around like its an obstacle.
