Crystal clarity in a small…

This soundbar promises features that my 10 year old 5:1 surround system can only dream of. In the box, you find everything you need. Once the app is downloaded and set up, you can link the soundbar to your wifi and voice assistant for wireless music streaming. This worked seamlessy and the dolby atmos music sounded superb. You can attach the soundbar to a TV via e/ARC for full atmos, HDMI ARC for compressed atmos or optical for 5.1. The soundbar has a low profile and at just under 70cm in length, easily fitted on the cupboard that my 32” TV sits on. The black colour is unobtrusive and doesn’t draw the eye when coming into the room. If you like your tech to be showy, then this might be a negative for you. It suited me down to the ground. The build quality is top notch - A case made from quality plastics, with one metal grille around the front and sides and a smaller one on the top. The 600 has five internal speakers and if it’s Dolby Atmos programming that you’re watching, it will come straight at you, without you having to do anything. I tried some Dolby Atmos content on Disney+ and it sounded amazing. I experienced a neautral sounding, large sound stage, with a decent feeling of height. Just make sure you position the soundbar correctly in the room for the optimum effect. Dialogue was excellent and really well balanced with the rest of the audio experience. This is where Bose gets a huge uptick in terms of sound quality. Once up and running, I did miss the full surround that I had been used to with my 5:1 setup. This is no fault of the soundbar and if you do want full surround, you can purchase add on speakers. In my small living room, the bass was more than adequate. No, you’re never going to get the throbbing sub-bass that you would experience with a specialist unit. This is to be expected with all soundbars and if you really do strive for more bass, then Bose sell a sub-bass unit that can be connected to the 600. The bass that I experienced was enough for my needs - warm and adequately filling. Overall, I’m more than happy to recommend the Bose Smart Soundbar 600. No, it doesn’t replace a 5:1 setup on its own, but a subbass unit and surround speakers can be added. The sound is second to none, with crystal clarity across the range. A truly impressive piece of tech.
