Just WOW!

It has been truly a long time since a new TV has made me stop and just look in awe. The new LG G3 genuinely took my breath away.
I am a bit of a TV obsessive. I have too many in the house (my wife will attest to this) yet still upgrade every couple of years for new tech.
I have full array lcds and an OLED from another brand. In fact this G3 is the first time I’ve tried LG.
Given my experience with buying TVs and usually owning top end sets I wasn’t expecting anything from the G3 other than it being another top end TV.
However it is the best TV I have ever had the pleasure of watching. It is sublime.
First off - the brightness.
I’ve avoided OLEDs due to the lack of brightness. I have a 55” OLED which is great but stays in a very dark room.
My living room is incredibly bright with large windows facing the TV. Therefore OLEDs (and a lot of lcds) struggled. My TV prior to the LG can achieve 1200 nits brightness. The LG claims to have around 1500, as an OLED!?
Well having tested it I can say that if you have a bright room then this TV offers everything you need. It is bright with superb contrast. In fact I have the setting failed down on SDR as it is so bright!
HDR is of course mind blowing then. Colours don’t just pop, they slap you in the face. Strong punchy contrast and clarity help to create a movie experience that is just incredible. I watched the latest Avatar movie, some Pixar movies and John Wick 4 and was just amazed.
It’s not just HDR or 4k movies that look good on the LG though. SDR content on satellite and older blu rays is crystal clear and almost look like it’s been remastered due to the processing on the LG and the contrast and colour it provides.
Gaming is fantastic also. I’ve read that LG was good for games but my PS5 has never looked so good. 120fps games are particularly stunning on the LG.
Small details jump out that were previously not clear and the near black handling means I can see things lurking the shadows that I couldn’t before.
The TV design is beautiful and sleek. It is almost the same thickness all over - about 3cm?
It is strangely heavy (maybe the heat sink) but that coupled with the finish just gives a sense of great build quality.
If you are looking for a new TV, even if you have a high end TV from the last few years, you will be blown away by the G3. To me it is the first real jump forward for TVs since the advent of HD.
