First I did wonder how a portable/camping grill would work well. It looks the part, but it needs to perform.
So unpacking the grill was good, there is no excess packaging which is good, but obviously both plastic and cardboard is used. The flat plates aren't inside the grill itself, but kept outside. There is a bag included for storage and carrying which is great.
I got this with the double connector. It isn't needed but it gives you a better range of gas canisters to use, including bigger ones to last longer. Looking online, reviews suggest the bigger CV470+ cartridges are good, can last quite a while yet small enough to easy take with you. The only problem with the double connector is you will now have a pipe and cartridge attached to the grill. For most, it shouldn't be any issue. The gas pipe are easy to fit if you warm up using hot water before hand. The double connector is really simple to connect and disconnect the cartridges.
For better portability you would need to use the smaller CP250 type which are smaller but bolt along the back of the grill and saves you having a gas pipe hanging at the back.
First impression of the grill seems high quality and very clean in finish. Simple latch to open and close. The lid can be held by a small metal "leg" to keep it open, although I think its not the strongest of all parts and there is only one, not two? Two would be better. The knobs to control the burner is easy and you spark each one with a button. It fires up first time for me, very good.
The metal plates are good, you don't have to attach them so you can use a sauce/flying pan or kettle directly on the small ring. I did a small test with a saucepan with water and it warms up very fast, quite typical of a gas burner. The metal plates are really easy to clean and food doesn't seem to stick which is great. They also seem to cool down fairly quickly after use as well. The griddle plate does take a little longer to heat up over flat plate, so choose your cooking areas wisey.
Wiping down the grill is easy, its all stainless steel. The edges stay fairly cool to touch when on and it got little legs to lift it away from the ground. I wouldn't use it on top of a wooden/glass surface though without at least heat protection.
Places to use it, its not meant to be used indoors obviously, it's an outdoor product. But its small enough to use anywhere and even as a replacement for a BBQ for singles/couples.
I highly recommend this, great product.
