Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 512GB/256GB
First phone I have been…

I have had the S24 Ultra since launch and have been very happy with it. I moved from another popular flagship phone, which I was disappointed in due to the poor battery life. I found that the S24 Ultra is a significant upgrade due to the powerful and efficient Qualcomm SD8 Gen3.
Faster charging would have been good, but I think 45W is more than acceptable. I’d also have liked this to launch with QI2, but that has only just launched, so it would likely be impractical to implement it in time.
The camera on my phone is essential to me. The S24 Ultra may not be classed as the best Android phone for photography, but in my experience, it is just as good as the best alternative options. I have been particularly impressed with the zoom lens and portrait feature. The low-light performance is perhaps not quite as good as some other options, but it is still excellent.
Interestingly, brands are switching back to flat displays, and this makes a lot of sense with Samsung due to the S-pen. The display is excellent, and with 2600 nits peak brightness, it should be easily usable on the sunniest days.
The AI features are OK. Samsung has certainly done the best job so far of making the most of the AI processing features from the Snapdragon. But I feel they are a bit lacklustre considering the marketing hype. Most of the features can be replicated with third-party apps.
One UI is bloated, but unlike many Chinese brands, many of the features included in One UI are quite useful.
In the past, I have been critical of the high price of the Ultra models. However, many phones now cost over £1k, and I think the S24 Ultra is a more refined device that is good all around in comparison to many of the other options. It is the first phone I have been happy with for the past few years.
