Samsung Galaxy S24+ 512GB/256GB
S24+ a great phone

I recently received my S24+ and my first impressions are very good.
I’ve upgraded from a Samsung A52 that is a few years old and it hadn’t received an update in a few years, so I was very pleased to read that Samsung will be providing updates for the S24 series for 7 years.
Having not had a new phone for almost 4 years, when I opened the box I was disappointed that there was no charging plug included, all you get is a USB cable, I know that most people will have some method of USB charging, but as this phone does support fast charging, it would have been good to have a fast charger included, I’ve had to use the my old charger that I got with my A52, it does the job but I don’t get the benefits of fast charging.
The phone itself is very premium, all metal with the glass front, I like that the glass is not curved at the edges. Being all sleek and shiny metal, it is slippery, I can see it sliding out of my hand very easily, maybe Samsung could have added some groves or something on the sides just so it is easier to grip, I purchased a case and didn’t use the phone until it arrived, as I was so scared of dropping it. The case has made an already large phone, even more bulky, large phones seems to be the trend these days.
I have poor eyesight so was especially interested to see what Samsung have done in that regard, and I have to say that I am very pleased, there are lots of options to increase text size, both in the general menus and also commonly used apps such at text messages and WhatsApp. Even though this phone has QHD+ resolution at 3120 x 1440, given my eyesight, that is wasted on me. I like the fact that I was able to turn this down to HD+ 1560 x 720, this gives the added benefit of increasing the battery life.
I’m very impressed with the battery life, I have been charging every 2 days, I’m not a heavy user, a few phone calls a day, some podcast listening and a bit of puzzle games daily.
I’m disappointed that there is not a headphone socket, I know that the trend is for wireless headphones, but I wanted to use my current headphones, so have had to buy an adaptor that goes into the usb port, this works, but it means that I can’t charge the phone at the same time. I know this phone has wireless charging but I don’t have a wireless charger so can’t comment on that.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this phone, and would definitely recommend to friends and family, I’d give a score of 4 stars out of 5, dropping 1 star for not including a charging plug, and removal of the headphone socket.
Pros
• Great battery life
• Brilliant screen
• Good sound from speakers
Cons
• Easy to slip out of hand, really need a case to help grip
• No charger included in box, jus a USB cable
• No headphone socket on the phone
