OLED65G4
Incrementally brilliant

LG has make some tweaks and changes to its 2024 OLED to create its best TV yet but..... it is more of the same compared to 2023s G3. Read on to see how the G4 fares
Picture
A great picture overall with some increased brightness this year making HDR content look a little more impactful. The contrast seems improved this year with colours having more pop and vibrancy than I have ever seen on an LG OLED. The sweeping sands of Dune look incredible with impeccable detail, glorious highlights and tones. This picture absolutely jumps off the screen and gives a 3D lifelike effect. SDR content looks good and non 4K content looks better than ever thanks to the new processing chip in the G4. This is a stunning picture again this year but I feel the competition is catching up
Sound
Serviceable with a surprising bit of depth in the lows. Still, get a soundbar
Gaming
All the bells and whistles for gaming keep LG the TV of choice for gamers. Low input lag, VRR, 4k/120, 144hz, Gsync, x4 Full HDMI 2.1 ports. Picture needs careful tuning as out of the box game mode looks overly bright with washed out picture in dark scenes.
OS
It is quick and has all the apps one can want. So for basics it works well. The ad space on homepage is getting bigger and more obtrusive. The AI assistant in the settings menu is an abomination. Its blocks so much screen it makes it impossible to use the menu's. I feel LG is adding more and more clutter to the OS every year.
Other bits
Remote. Serviceable but its time to upgrade this 7+ year old design. Its plastic and doesn't feel well matched to a premium and elegant panel.
Overall LG have another winner on its hands. Great picture, all the settings for gamers, gorgeous design. But i do feel this year was steady improvements and the competition will edge closer in areas and remain ahead in others. Great effort LG but keep on your toes for 2025
