First Impressions
LG really has gone out with their 2022 flagship OLED TV series, aka the Gallery series. It is aptly named because of its incredibly slim and svelte body which makes it perfect to wall-mount it like a piece of fine art. Right out of the box, I was blown away by how sleek and premium the TV was. It has a near bezel-less panel and is encased in a metallic frame.
Setting up the TV is incredibly easy as there are only as few steps including looking up your HDMI inputs and searching of DVB-T2 channels. The 55G2 runs on LG’s proprietary OS WebOS 22 which is a marked improvement over LG’s previous tile-based WebOS. The interface even allows me to connect other IoT devices like my smart lighting system and allows me to control them from the TV itself! I even configured the Google Assistant to the 55G2 and now I can even ask the TV to perform commands such as increase the TV volume and changing channels etc with a simple “Hi LG”. The remote control is well designed with shortcuts to popular apps and has an in-built microphone. What I absolutely love about LG’s interface is that I am able to use the remote like an air mouse to type in letters and numbers as well. It even has a wheel to scroll effortlessly. The 55G2 has an excellent cable management system at the back, routing all the HDMI or USB cables into a single point at the bottom of the TV. It results in no cable clutter and is very neat.

LG is using an the α9 Gen5 AI processor to control the OLED evo panel. What makes the G2 LG’s brightest OLED TV is the addition of a heat sink element which allows the panel to be driven harder and brighter. OLED TVs of course result in perfect blacks as well when viewing dark scenes, because unlike other LED TVs, the pixels turn themselves off completely. The 55G2 supports the latest Dolby Vision IQ and is a real treat to the eyes when watching HDR content from Netflix and Disney+. The 55G2 is perfect for gaming as well as it supports 120 FPS, Variable Refresh Rate(VRR) and has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports.
Sound
The 55G2 has a powerful 60 watts 4.2 channel which has an amazing sound stage which is certainly more powerful than most other TVs in the market. Vocals and music are very clear and the bass is punchy for such a slim panel. Turn on the Dolby Atmos setting and you’ve got a great home cinema setup!
Verdict
Without a doubt, the LG G2 series is one of the finest TVs in the market. You have got to see the difference for yourself in the stores!
