Impressive Excellence

The LG SN10YG soundbar is impressive and excellent. Impressive in the way it blends visually into the mantel below my 65 inch 4K televison and excellent in the way that it delivers a dynamic clean response. I love the theater experience of a dark room and high quality content, and this soundbar has made me appreciate what I was missing. Hearing the embedded ambiance of stadiums and spaces, not overdone or in your face, but just right. Restraint is definitely harder than maximizing all of the effects, and LG has done a beautiful job with the tuning, likely with credit to Meridian. I am often up late into the night and very early mornings, so being able to clearly hear the sound at lower volume levels has been a huge win as well. The subwoofer blends in seamlessly, and the voices for the morning news are clear and crisp.
To really get a sense of the acoustic performance of the LG SN10YG soundbar, I played a few tracks I know well. "Michigan" by the Milk Carton Kids, "Summertime (acoustic recordings) " by Miles Davis, "End of the Line" by the Traveling Wilburys, and the entire "Live from Mars Unplugged" from Ben Harper. Each of these tracks are like old friends for me, I know the wrinkles on their face and the small details that I look for and enjoy in each one of them. I could not suppress the smile on my face from this listening experience. Eyes closed, I could sense the position of the musicians on the stage for the live recordings and the crisp detail in each instruments on all of them. As you would expect, the lossless recording of End of the Line was incredible and the guitars absolutely sang out. It has been impressive enough for me to find a new home for my previous reference listening device from the family room.
All is not perfect, but the observed issues are minor and most of them should be fixable with software updates. The ability to pair a Bluetooth headset directly to the soundbar was strangely difficult and frustrating, worked around by pairing to the TV and working as expected. The stickers on the equipment in the box cheapen an otherwise beautiful finish. The remote is also a divergence from the sophisticated design and finish, with a large button design I find childish. While the sound quality quickly makes this concern fade, I am reminded each time I pick it up.
In summary, absolutely a must-buy if you have a 65 inch or above and care about sound. This is a massive soundbar, but worth every penny and every inch.
