Hold on tight, the LG Gram…

I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion.
Literally everything about the 2021 LG Gram 16 is sleek, stylish, and absolutely impressive. From the monolithic black rectangle of its packaging, to the pocket-sized USB-C power adapter, to the spacious full keyboard, to its gorgeous semi-glossy 16-inch display, it is hard not to be in awe. It really is a minimalist feast for the eyes to take in, and it only gets better from there.
When you first take it out of the box, grabbing it by its edge, you are instantly hit with the realization that yes, this must really be the lightest 16-inch laptop in production. This cannot be overstated. Whether you are just moving from room to room in your house, or between buildings at work, that LG has been able to keep this business-grade machine under 2.5lbs is a gift that keeps on giving. When it's plopped in a backpack, it's easy to forget it's even there. Having it on your lap for hours on end is similarly joyful. There is very little heat produced compared to other laptops I've owned, and the machine is pretty much silent.
As for the display, the 16-inch 2560x1600 IPS display is bright, crisp, and beautiful. With zero scaling, It provides a great amount of screen real estate where my 40-year-old eyes can still see everything. In practical terms, the 2560-pixel horizontal resolution means you can have two full documents/web pages displayed simultaneously in split-screen. This means a lot less switching between docs when looking for info, copy-pasting, etc. It's a real time saver in that regard. Similarly, the 1600-pixel vertical resolution means you can see more within a document before needing to scroll downward. The display is truly beautiful, with bright, yet seemingly-accurate colors. In family photos, etc, everyone's skin tone looks just right. The same is true when streaming shows, movies, etc.
The in-built speakers are just so-so in my opinion. Perhaps the only spot where I'd suggest LG put in some more work for next year's model. The sound quality and volume just leave a bit to be desired. Perfectly enjoyable, but on a flagship machine like this, I'd have thought they would shine.
Connectivity options abound, and between the 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2x USB 3 ports, headphone jack, HDMI-out and micro-sd slot, you are covered! I'm even using 2x 4K external monitors perfectly.
It chews through office apps, web pages, games and videos with ease. 5/5. A+
