GP63EX70
Light and Portable

I recently picked up LG GP63EX70 Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer for my notebook computer that unfortunately like many other modern computers are not supplied with that type of drive. The drive supports reading and writing all types of DVD media (-R, RW, +R/RW as well as DVD-RAM and M-DISC DVD (DVD+R). Now the latter type is probably one you may have never heard of before and it is is a write-once optical disc technology introduced in 2009 by Millenniata, Inc. and available as DVD and Blu-ray discs. It is excellent for archiving your precious digital data such as family histories and photo albums. It can hold files of any type & can be an exact copy of a pre-existing DVD. M-Disc can be read on any computer which can read a DVD. The real cool thing about M-Discs are they are supposed to last 1,000 years whereas a normal DVD is only rated to last about 7-10 years before possibly degrading. The difference between the two and what makes M-Discs special, is the data-containing part of the disc is made with a ceramic instead of a biodegrading polymer (plastic). So I find it very handy to preserve your special memories, any type of data you deem to keep forever pretty much.
The drive itself is very light and portable, it comes with a USB cable and a software CD. I will be definitely using it primarily for M-Disc features and try to archive as much data as I can possibly can with this drive. One thing I wish, if it was a Blu-ray capable M-Disc as it would hold even more data compared to the DVD format. It can be easily connected to your TV to display any media.
Hope this review helps someone to decide to get the drive and save all of your good memories or just use it as a portable DVD player which will work both on a PC or Mac. I have bought this drive at a discount in exchange for my honest review.
