Great printer with affordable…

This is my review of the HP DeskJet 4100 All In One. I received it at a discounted price in exchange for my review. It prints, scans, copies and faxes. It has been a long time since I bought a printer. I used the printers and scanners at the library.
I used my laptop to download the software. There are printouts and a Reference Guide which will tell you about future ink options and the site to download the software. An app is also available . The steps were easy to follow and took a few minutes. Ink and paper were easy to install.
I entered my wifi info and was ready to print.
You get a 6 month trial of ink and although they tell you that no credit card is required, you do have to enter in the cc info to complete the process. You have 6 months to cancel via online or 800 number, and your deadline is clearly displayed so you can make note of it. HP says the free trial ink will allow you to print 700 pages a month. After the trial, the pricing schedule is .99/10 pages monthly, 3.99/50 pages monthly, 5.99/100 pages monthly, 11.99/300 pages monthly and 24.99/700 pages monthly. I print about less that 50 pages a month, so if I chose that plan, my unused page count would rollover to the next month. You can rollover up to 3 times the number of pages in your plan. 10-15 more pages a month would cost $1 more, and you have the option of having paper delivered at 1.99 per ream.
In HP’s ink program, you pay for the pages you print, not the amount of ink you use. They say that their cartridges are high capacity, and the ink is shipped to you as you get close you the page count you selected. Through the software they (and you) can tell what your ink levels are. As high as ink is in the stores/online, this looks very cost effective.
I’ve printed and made copies and the quality is very high. I’ve scanned also. Takes about 25 seconds for the scanned image to pop up on the software where you can view and/or edit and save. It can recognize when something is upside down and flip it.
I think the display on the printer is too small, but I realize that very few printers have a large display. I think it would also help to have a backlit display. I’ve had to move the lamp over to read it.
I really like this printer and the ink options are very affordable. I print less than 50 pages a month, and even if I did do 50, at 10 cents a page B & W at the library (more for color) it’s very affordable, and I don’t have to leave the house!
