I don't mess around when it comes to my hair. Because I like to keep it long in length and a high-maintenance color, I have to take extreme care to avoid damage: sulfate free shampoo on the roots, clay mask, intensive conditioner, towel dry, leave-in chemical treatment and leave-in conditioner, finish with hair oil and cuticle sealing oil treatment. I am dubious of anything that names itself a "miracle" treatment or claims to repair hair - I know well enough after years of research and serial product hopping that's just not how hair works. So when I picked up a bottle of the Ultimate Repair treatment and saw how tiny the 1 oz bottle is compared to my other holy grail products of the same price, needless to say I was very, very skeptical.
To test it against my tried-and-true regime, I decided to spray half of my head with the Ultimate Repair and the other half with my usual routine after freshly washing my hair. The difference in result was so obvious, I assumed the half I did not use Wella on was just more inherently damaged or frizzy than the Wella side so I chalked it up to coincidence and planned to switch sides for my next shower. Again, the side I used the Ultimate Repair on felt more lush and healthy, almost like I used an intensive hair mask. I had plans to go out that night and I ended up spraying the other side of my head with the Wella too. Over the next few weeks, life got chaotic with lots of travel and the holidays and I found myself always reaching for this bottle -- it's a great travel size, it replaced my multi-step routine, and the results are indisputable. I hate to say it, but the price is worth it for the tiny bottle -- I have used it 3x/week since Nov and the bottle is just now 3/4 empty. I don't even want to know how much my post-wash hair routine was costing me before this product effectively outdid it. The results are super soft, silky hair that lasts until the next wash. I was too busy to look for "repaired" split ends but my ends didn't tangle like it usually does on Day 2 or 3 (IYKYK).
Some tips for use: The instructions say 10-20 pumps, but I found my hair was happiest with 6-8 sprays, held about 6 inches away from the hair, on mid-length to ends only. Any more than that and my hair felt heavy. Spray it on immediately after towel-drying and brush it out to disperse it evenly throughout-- if your hair has the chance to air dry at all before use, the product makes your hair feel waxy
