HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dn.
Great for basic printing

I had the opportunity to set up and utilize the HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dn for several weeks. Set-up was pretty straightforward, as this particular model requires a direct ethernet/USB connection to our internet source. Our printer connected easily with our PC, and drivers were simple to install and update. It took my husband and I an incredible amount of time to locate the username/password for this device (on toner door). Cartridges were simple enough to load and calibrate. As a consumer, I am let down by the fact that HP still offers a printer without wireless capabilities. Although I knew hook-up would require direct connection, I figured this printer would continue to be compatible with the HP Smart app to print within our home; it is not. As someone who prints frequently for work, children's school work and Girl Scouts, it's not very convenient to have to sit at my PC to print each and every time. Additionally, this printer is super basic and comes with only one USB port for connect to home internet. Without an additional port, I can not even connect my mobile device to print via USB. Print speed and quality is terrific, as the laser jet really does spit out my documents lightening-fast! Color printing isn't quite as nice as ink-jet, but still wonderful and clear. The display screen on the HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dn is small, but readable. The dial knob enables users to scroll and make selections, and can be tedious at times. Laser-Jet cartridges are on the costly side, however, these cartridges last for 1500+ pages and require less changing than my traditional ink-jet cartridges. I was unimpressed by the fact that this printer will not wake up to print if PC goes into sleep mode. Additionally, you need to place paper back in a second time to print double-sided documents. Overall, the printer does indeed print documents as promised. However, I am unsure why in 2024, anybody would require such a basic printer. This model comes with no fax or scan option-- so really leaves the consumer with a straight, direct-connected, print option. For a bit more money, I would absolutely recommend the wireless model with fax/scan capability-- as these are just things that I believe all printers should come stocked with in today's technological state
